The first professional development session at C:DAGS was focused on discussing the meaning and value of design and creative problem solving as well as introducing the D3 Methodology. C:DAGS teachers collaborated on a series of activities and live design challenges aimed at demystifying the various stages of the creative process. A foundation of understanding was laid through exploring effective D3 projects from the past. The final challenge was to design a “survival kit” for a partner to help them survive their first year at C:DAGS. The results of this challenge varied widely from the highly practical to the highly conceptual, and spurred continued discussion about how design methodology could be put to work in their classrooms.
