Several teams of 6th graders from Mr. Cugley’s Language Arts classes dedicated lots of time this year to improving the Nightingale Campus. After completing a campus walkthrough and identifying spaces that needed improvement, the teams decided to redesign a space under some stairs on the blacktop and as well as an outdoor cafeteria space. They started by examining how the spaces could be improved and then spoke with the Nightingale community to gather more feedback. Generally, it was agreed upon that the spaces should be cleaned up, and made brighter and more inviting.
After the teams brainstormed ideas for murals and made a few drafts, students and staff were invited to vote on the best designs for each area. Once the voting was completed, the teams worked together to put their plans into action. Students moved through the do it stage to complete renovations for these areas in the last few weeks of the school year.
Students attending Nightingale Middle School during the 2013-2014 school year will have a more enticing eating area during lunch seating area during break times thanks to these 6th graders! Keep up the great work in 7th grade Nighthawks!
