D3 @PSP was really exciting this week! On Tuesday the teens completed TWO peace posters in one day. A full house split into boys and girls teams to plan and paint, but both show peace as a process – a cycle people must be involved in to make the world a clean, healthy environment. The teens decided we will hang the posters side by side in a public place at PSP and prompt guests to vote for which they like best by placing a card for either poster in a box between them. The winner decides our next off-site destination! There will be business card sized images of the peace posters for guests to keep, too.
On Wednesday we really celebrated the season with a trip to the Target Center for an NBA game: Timberwolves vs. 76ers! We all had so much fun getting to take a trip off-site together. And it was a great comeback victory for the MN Timberwolves! Before and after half time the teens got the opportunity to be in the tunnel between the court and locker rooms to see the players go by. Two teens actually got an autograph!
With all the hard work these teens have been doing, between school, life, and the Peace Poster, taking them to an NBA game was a great reward and end to a long project. Next week brings another celebration of the season: the teens will be working through the D3 process to develop a positive design to tag the snow! We all have to work with the resources we have, and in MN we have a lot of snow right now!! There’s a big open hill near PSP with pure white powder, looking just like a blank canvas. The teens are already really excited to get into this design project and have been talking about how they’ll design their own D3 logo for a tag!
